Wives who have fallen victim to domestic violence are now allowed to file for divorce directly with the court without going through the social protection committee in the Eastern Province, court sources said. The courts in the Eastern Province have already started processing divorce cases filed by wives who have accused their husbands of physical and verbal abuse. When the divorce is finalized, the social committee will follows up the child support case, if applicable.
