Kanstantsin Siutsou of Belarus won the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia in a late solo breakaway Saturday, and Danilo Di Luca added eight seconds to his overall lead by finishing third. Siutsou darted away from the lead pack with 16 kilometers to go. It was the fifth victory of the Team Columbia-High Road rider's career, including a win at the Tour of Georgia last year. He also won the under-23 race at the 2004 World Championships. Siutsou covered the 209-kilometer leg in 5 hours, 4 minutes, 34 seconds. Edvald Boasson Hagen of Norway finished second, 21 seconds behind, for his third consecutive top-two finish, and Di Luca was next with the same time. The top three finishers received bonuses of 20, 12 and 8 seconds, respectively. Di Luca now holds a 13-second lead over Thomas Lovkvist in the overall standings, with Michael Rogers third, 44 seconds back, and Lance Armstrong's Astana teammate Levi Leipheimer fourth, 51 seconds behind. Armstrong and Leipheimer also crossed with the main pack and Armstrong remained 25th overall, 4:39 behind Di Luca. Spanish rider Pedro Horillo Munoz tumbled 60 meters off the side of the road during the high-speed descent from San Pietro after 75 kilometers and was airlifted to a local hospital with multiple injuries.
