Security patrols in Madina were called to the vicinity of the Maternity Hospital on Thursday to break up a confrontation between 15 youths and members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, popularly known as the Hai'a. “Members of the Hai'a noticed two cars parked close to the hospital pedestrian walkway, and a group of young men were gathered behind one of them,” said Bandar Bin Mohammed Al-Rubeish, spokesman for the Hai'a in Madina. “Our staff asked them to move on as they were sitting on the pavement where families were walking.” One young man, described as dressed in “an unacceptable fashion”, then reportedly jumped into one of the cars and rammed the Hai'a vehicle. The driver and three other persons who were in the vehicle with him then fled, only to be caught soon after. “Then they started attacking the members of the Hai'a, one of whom was injured in the eye and hands,” Al-Rubeish said. “He then called security patrols to the scene.”
