filled night at the ‘Saudi Master Baker's Toshi Nite' program, which was organized by ‘Melody Loverz', an expat cultural group, in collaboration with Infinite Solutions, Thursday, at the White Tent resort, Madina Road, Jeddah. Singer Toshi Sabri, of ‘Amul Star Voice of India' fame, who, more recently, sang the hugely popular ‘Maahi' track from the movie ‘Raaz-2', and comedian Shahabuddin from Hyderabad, India, kept the 1000-plus audience enthralled with their lively performances. Consul Commercial and Head of Chancery (HOC) at the Indian Consulate, Cyril Tigga, was the chief guest for the evening. Local artists that participated in the program included: Syed Rafey, Faisal, Rihana Saleem, Mufteen, Swati, Amjad, Mohsin, Ahmed Master, Azhar Butt, Nadeem Goshi and Sahib Khan. Toshi, who came on the stage after 1 A.M, thanked the audience, saying: “I am surprised that I have such a large following in Jeddah comprising fans from both the Indian and Pakistani communities.” He rendered some of the latest Bollywood songs and remixes. However, the show did not last long because the audience got a little too overexcited by Toshi's energetic performance. “No doubt the hall was jam-packed and the audience were energized by the power-packed performances, artists, especially those that come from other countries, must be respected. But if the audience doesn't behave well, then how can they be entertained?” asked organizer Zahid Siddiqui, who also sang during the show. He expressed concern over the future of cultural events here “which may not find sponsors if performances are interrupted by some mischief makers in the audience. Artists may not want to perform in Jeddah and, hence, ultimately there may not be any entertainment left for the Asian community here,” he said. Co-organizer Imran Qureshi said executive personnel and those holding important corporate positions must cooperate with the Asian community to conduct “decent cultural programs, which promote upcoming talents, such as Toshi.” He hoped that similar programs will be conducted on a larger scale. Ibrahim Malik, one of the program's sponsors, said the event was a hit. “Cultural shows should be organized frequently,” he said. Other organizers of the program include: Hannan and Abdul Rafey.
