A family in the town of Adham, east of Al-Laith, have resorted to keeping their handicapped son in a cage claiming that they have not been able to find any other solution to his condition. The 20-year-old was reportedly born mentally handicapped and has minimal power of speech. “We tried for five years to find some sort of treatment for him at various hospitals, but without success,” said the father. “He caused lots of problems when he left the house and was also vulnerable to a lot of dangers. We ended up putting him in the cage as we were worried about his well-being, and to stop him wandering off and getting lost.”
