‘Throw a Smile,' a name which says it all, is a club run by young Saudis who are trying to serve the destitute in their own special way. Noora Atif Darwaish, a volunteer member, said her club is organizing various events in which orphans and poor people can participate. These events include various contests, she said. Hasam Bakader Al-Amoudi, an engineering student in Yanbu Industrial City, formed the club a year ago to find a different way to help the poor. Speaking about the initial activities of the club, he said that he started the club by collecting used clothes from his friends and the families that he knew so that they could be given to those in need. That was the first small step, he added, that led to the eventual formation of the club now known as “Throw a Smile.” Al-Amoudi said people wishing to donate clothing and other items can give them to the club, which will distribute them to the poor.
