King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, will patronize here on May 18-19 the 1st international media conference titled "Future of news publishing." The conference is being organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information in coordination with the international Afra organization. In organizing the conference, the Ministry of Culture and Information seeks to build bridges of cooperation and dialogue between media organizations in the Middle East, to create a culture of communication between media members, to promote an academic climate appropriate for the graduation of distinguished media cadres, and to benefit from global expertise and experience in the field of publishing and journalism. Experts in the press and media industry from all over the world will participate in the conference along with experts and consultants from Afra and personnel of the local press and media. The conference will be accompanied by several events including the organizing of an exhibition for sponsoring companies and the Afra organization for presenting the latest techniques in the field of press andpublication as well as organization of various workshops to benefit from their experience in this area. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Culture and Information has recently joined the membership of Afra, an international organization for research and services related to news making and publication and concerned with press and information dissemination. Afra, which provides services to more than 3,000 members in 80 states, also organizes international exhibitions and seminars.
