The ongoing political crisis in Nepal will not affect the recruitment of its citizens to work in the GCC countries, Nepal's Ambassador to the Kingdom, Hamid Ansari, told Saudi Gazette. Ansari said that Nepal's leadership is strong enough to handle the current political situation and will guarantee jobs for its nationals overseas, especially in GCC countries.” “More than 200,000 Nepalese are currently working in the Kingdom, out of which 35,000 are working as housemaids,” he added. Ansari was appointed ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom on Feb. 12, 2008 and is also responsible for Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Sudan. He said that the Kingdom continues to be the largest provider of employment for his country's citizens and a recent meeting with Saudi ministry officials gave assurance of more job opportunities for Nepal nationals. In the present economic situation, Nepal requires external remittance for its development and expansion projects, so the manpower supply to Gulf countries will continue without any disturbance, the ambassador explained. The Embassy of Nepal to the Kingdom was established in 1978 and has played an important role in nurturing the relations between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.
