A new Filipino production company is rolling into town with its first offering as part of the celebrations of the Philippine Heritage Month in London. Kasayahan, produced by Kulay Pinoy Productions, is a musical theater show that seeks to take Filipinos in London on a nostalgic trip back home. It features a model jeepney, typical Manila street sounds and an experienced line-up of West End performers such as Ima Castro, Ian Venides, Kevin Kyle, Gina Respal, Cez Bonner, Edu Briones and Gia Macuja Atchison. The cast members have treaded the boards for shows like Miss Saigon, The King and I, Cats and Jerry Springer the Opera to name a few and now tapping into their skills to get the wheels in motion for Kulay Pinoy's maiden project. Kasayahan, conceptualized by Pinoy actor Junix Inocian with input from Kevin Kyle, debuts on May 10 at the Harrow Arts Center in Harrow, northwest London and is dubbed a “collaboration of British and Filipino creativity”. It comes as part of Philippine Heritage Month celebrations in the UK and includes a variety of popular songs from the Philippines like “Manila, Manila” and “Babalik Ka Rin.” Kulay Pinoy Productions' Financial Director Richard Payne says, “The musical provides the British and Philippine communities a chance to enjoy a cultural experience whilst watching well-known Filipino performers up close.” - ABS
