Police in Jeddah are investigating a possible connection between the body of a woman found on Monday inside a bag and a murder that occurred in similar circumstances seven weeks ago. The unidentified body of a young woman was found yesterday in a leather bag dumped in a building basement in the Al-Ruwais district. Witnesses said that blood was dripping from the bag when police brought it out of the building, suggesting the murder had occurred only a short while previously. The body of another woman was found in March in a suitcase in the district of Al-Rahmaniyah. Police were reported to be investigating the possibility of rape and murder, but another source said the body appeared to be that of an illegal resident who had died of natural causes, and posited that her family or acquaintances had feared questioning and discarded the body. The body found yesterday was reported as showing signs of physical abuse.
