The Kingdom's Saudization program received a boost with the recent graduation of 300 young Saudis who completed a six-month extensive training program in various skills essential for the construction industry and were offered jobs by a local construction firm. Dr. Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, Minister of Labor, who patronized the ceremony and distributed graduation certificates on Sunday night, said, “These graduates are excellent examples of the generation of young Saudis who appreciate the dignity of labor in all sectors of the job market. The training program initiated by a local construction company demonstrates the willingness and determination of Saudi companies to provide training to our youth.” The minister urged other business groups to follow the good example of this company's track record by extending similar mass training in their respective fields. The graduation ceremony was attended by company officials and representatives of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). The CEO of the construction company said that the training program initiated by his company was part of the corporate commitment of the Saudi private sector to provide all possible job opportunities for young Saudis. “Providing employment for our young people is now a priority of private enterprises, which should be pursued consistently and with determination,” he said. The 300 graduates completed training in welding, electrical work, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and scaffolding with 50 students specializing in each of the six job categories. HRDF granted the funds for the training, while the Qatif Vocational Training Institute provided the training under the supervision of the TVTC.
