Mayor Adel Fakih inaugurated a training program here on Saturday entitled the “Evaluation of safety of concrete buildings” organized by the Engineering Training Center of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Dr. Habeeb Zain Al-Abdeen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Chairman of the Central Administration for Developmental Projects, also attended the inaugural session. A group of experts from the ministry and the German Commission for Technical Cooperation are also participating in the five-day event. Ibrahim Katabkhana, Deputy Mayor of Jeddah for Construction and Projects, said the major objective of the training course is to train civil engineers to inspect concrete buildings, evaluate their structural condition and repair any structural defects. Saeed Bafhaid, Director of Bridges and Tunnels Unit at the Mayoralty, said over 20 specialist engineers from different government agencies are attending the program.
