A policeman working for the Jizan police department has been arrested on charges of beating up a youth. The arrest was made after the youth lodged a complaint with the Samta Governorate police against the security man who was also charged with threatening the young man with a pistol. The complainant said he was beaten up by the security man and two others. A security source in Samta Police said the alleged assailant would be interrogated to determine the reasons behind the attack, and that they would also hear the testimonies of eyewitnesses. Lt. Col. Awadh Al-Qahtani, spokesperson of Jizan Region Police, said investigations are underway to learn the circumstances of the case. Ali Al-Areeshi, a resident of Al-Jaradiah village that comes under the jurisdiction of Samta Governorate, said he was driving to a laundry in his car. Suddenly, he encountered another car coming at him head-on. He tried to drive around the vehicle, but the other motorist refused to budge under the pretext that he had the right of way and began hurling insults at the young man. The youth drove away to the laundry, but the motorist followed him and bumped his car into the young man's vehicle. He then got out of his car and tried to take the youth's car from him by force. Several minutes later, two other people came and the three started beating up the youth who suffered serious blows to one of his eyes. “He even took out a pistol and pointed it at us,” Al
