A Saudi woman has opened the first women-only cultural café shop hoping it will provide the right environment for female intellectuals. The café also provides a large number of books along with some old Hijazi meals. The idea of the project, according to Hesah Al-Enizi, the café owner, started since she attended a course on ways to start a small project. After that she applied for a loan from the Me'awiah Fund which agreed to finance the project by extending her a loan of SR190,000. Hesah says she is not running the cafe for monetary gains; her only aim is to provide the female intellectuals the right kind of environment where they could pursue their interests unhindered. The café, she said, offers a platform to university students to share their academic experiences with each other. The café will hold some courses and cultural events in a special hall. Hesah has employed a number of Saudi girls. A narrator has also been engaged to tell stories from the past twice a week.
