Thermal imaging cameras have been installed at all airports in the Kingdom as a preventive measure against swine flu, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health, said here Saturday. These cameras will also be installed at all the seaports, the minister said. The Kingdom and other GCC countries, he added, have not recorded any case of infection. Speaking after inaugurating the GCC scientific conference to study preventive measures against the spread of swine flu, the minister said all necessary precautions have been put in place to protect the holy sites and other cities of the Kingdom against the outbreak of the flu. Health authorities, he said, are all geared up to face any possible eventualities. The GCC conference, Al-Rabeah hoped, comes up with useful recommendations and satisfactory results. He put the swine flu cases around the world at 2,500. A few of them have resulted in deaths, he said. The Ministry of Health, he said, is in constant touch with the Civil Aviation Authority to create an awareness about the disease and its precautions among passengers coming to the Kingdom. Dr. Khaled Al-Zahrani, Health Ministry's undersecretary for preventive medicine, who is also the chairman of the conference's organizing committee, said discussions at the conference includes scientific sessions by experts from World Health Organization (WHO) and other GCC countries.
