The father of a boy with hepatitis is set to file a complaint with the director of Health Affairs against the hospital that repeatedly failed to diagnose his condition. Mousa Maqadi, 11, was taken to Qunfudah General Hospital last month suffering from fever and given medication to take at home for two days, and was taken twice more to the hospital as his condition worsened, but each time the response was similar, according to Maqadi's father. “In the end I took him to a private clinic where tests showed he had hepatitis,” the father said. Maqadi was hospitalized at the clinic for five days and is currently being treated at the general hospital. The boy's father has now said he will file a complaint with the Ministry of Health, an action that has been supported by Muhammad Mahfouz of the Health Affairs Information Department in Qunfudah. “A committee will be formed to deal with the person responsible for the failure,” Mahfouz added. Meanwhile, Health Affairs in Jeddah has announced that it is to dedicate one hour a day to hearing complaints about health services from the public. Jeddah Health Affairs Director Sami Badawood has issued instructions to directors of Health Affairs departments and public hospitals to enforce new regulations and allocate one hour from 11 A.M. to 12 midday every day to admitting the public into their offices and listening to their grievances. – With report from Hussein Hazazi.
