The Board of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has unanimously reelected chairman Saleh Kamel to a new four-year term. “The coming period will require members and governments to work together to bring about new development in the service of Arab and Islamic nations,” Kamel said at the close of meetings between the General Assembly and the board of the chamber on Tuesday. The meetings resolved to form an endowment committee headed by the ICCI chairman, Egypt and Qatar, and enforce trade ethics. Kamel said the ICCI would begin intensive work to increase joint commerce and investment and complete all projects to improve the competitiveness of Islamic nations' economies. The Egyptian Minister of Commerce, Rashid Muhammad Rashid, said at the opening of the meetings that joint projects should not to be limited to trade, industry and agriculture, but extended to include other sectors such as education, research, health, transportation and other services that support economic human resources development in Islamic countries.
