The Ministry of Water and Electricity has begun installing thousands of water dispensing facilities in mosques and government offices in Riyadh to help rationalize water consumption. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Saud, Deputy Minister for Development and Planning Affairs, said the work, which involves installing taps limiting the amount of water dispensed at any one time, would continued for another four months and be applied to the rest of the Kingdom soon. Al-Saud said that installation of the devices in the private sector would be monitored, with failures to comply met by fines starting at SR200 and the threat of water supplies being cut off.
