A court in Muweih said on Sunday it would not look into a lawsuit brought by Radwan Police against 35 people accused of impeding the work of authorities to demarcate plots of land, and would instead refer it to the Administrative Court. The court said in a letter to the police that the case comes under the jurisdiction of the Administrative Court, in accordance with Article 7 of the Bribery Law. The article states: “Whoever uses violence or threatens a public employee with the intention of stopping them carrying out their duties is subject to the penalty stipulated in Article 1 of the Bribery Law.” The penalties, according to Article 1, include jail sentences from one to ten years, and fines of up to one million riyals. Among the accused are two rural district government officials. The accused reportedly confronted government employees on the Riyadh to Taif road in the northeast of Radwan in March, 2008.
