LG launches world's first cyclotron plasma air conditioner in Kingdom
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 05 - 05 - 2009

LG Electronics, the world's leading innovator of air conditioners and H.G. Ibrahim Shaker Co. - sole distributor in Saudi Arabia, launched on Monday its new wall-mounted air conditioner, Titan, with the world's first cyclotron plasma and twin cooling technologies.
Designed specifically for use in homes, the Titan responds to customer needs in the region by offering faster cooling and providing safer indoor air through the industry leading technologies. The Titan has a unique air humidification and purification functions that is suitable for kids especially for new born babies preventing some unwanted respiratory ailments, allergies, dermatitis and diseases like asthma.
“Research has shown that indoor air quality is a major concern for people in the Middle East. The Titan is the perfect alternative to natural ventilation, which is essential for healthy air but insufficient in this region,” said Simon Lee, general manager of LG Electronics, Saudi Arasbia. “Just as important as this air conditioner's ability to cool homes quickly is its ability to help clean sand, dirt, odors and allergens from the air. The Titan will solidify its position as the leading air conditioner in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia market.”
According to consumer research conducted by LG, homes in desert climates need a fast, powerful air conditioner to live comfortably. Titan's Dynamic Double Vane technology uses two wide vanes that direct air across an area up to 10 meters. This eliminates air conditioning dead zones, helping to maintain an even temperature throughout a room.
For larger rooms, LG also developed a circulator, which is called Air Cruiser, creating the world's first twin cooling system. When positioned on the wall opposite the main cooling unit, this second unit helps cool large homes up to 40 percent faster and 70 percent more evenly. The circulator also humidifies the dry air with its water plasma technology, which uses sterilized, bacteria-free water.
To further increase its cooling effectiveness, the Titan's selectable swing modes can be set to sweep air across a room in several different directions, including seven vertical adjustment modes, five horizontal modes, and left and right full swing modes. This improves comfort levels by redirecting airflow to prevent it from blowing directly on family members and guests. To help purify the air, the Titan incorporates the world's first cyclotron plasma technology, which improves the collection of dust by up to 30 percent compared to a conventional plasma kit.
With LG's innovative filtration system, the new air conditioner reduces allergens in the air by as much as 70 percent. An antibacterial pre-filter first reduces pollens, mould and large dust from the air. The triple filter on the underside helps reduce symptoms associated with exposure to various organic compounds including formaldehyde. As a final step, a Nano Carbon filter traps fine odorous particles to completely remove odors from the home.
Hassan Shaker, CEO of AL H.G. Ibrahim Shaker Co., said “air conditioning business is witnessing contentious growth here in the Kingdom and we were at the heart of this growth. We estimate that the KSA market is growing at an average rate of more than 7 percent annually and the size of the market is expected to be $1 billion this year. In addition, wall-mounted AC market is rapidly expanding with by double-digit growth rate annually, and this is due to customers' strong preference for less noise and more comfortable AC needs. Titan will play a pivotal role in wall mounted AC market and will lead and secure absolute No.1 position of LG AC in KSA market.”
The new air conditioner also features an auto alarm for filter cleaning, simple remote control with a wide display and one touch function, and a stylish exterior design including interior lighting, artistic patterns and hidden display.
Titan will be available in the Kingby the middle of May this year.
