The Indonesian Consulate here is organizing free “Bhasha Indonesia” (Indonesian language) course under the supervision of Gatot Abdullah Mansyur, Indonesian Consul General, from May 6. The free language course was started last year. The program is aimed at raising the awareness of Indonesian culture and customs and spread the knowledge and to develop interaction and build communication bridges for people to people contact between the two brotherly countries of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, Dharma Kirty, the head of Information Affairs Department at the Indonesian Consulate, said here Saturday. “The course will be held twice a week for three months, starting May 6 up to end of August,” said Kirty . Registration is open from May 4 to 6 from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. at Indonesian consulate. For registration two photos and a copy of ID (residential permit) is required. For further information interested persons can contact Abdullah M. Umar, an official in the public relations department. Indonesian language has strategic position in the world especially in South Eastern Region. It is not only spoken by 220 million Indonesian people but is also widely spoken in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. “Much of the vocabulary in Indonesian language has been derived from Arabic language. Therefore, it will be easier for Arabs to learn the language,” Kirty said.
