A court in Asir is scheduled to hear Tuesday the case brought by a mother and her two daughters against male members of their family for denying them their inheritance and blocking their right to marriage. The case, which has been through eight previous hearings, will be decided upon by a court in Sarat Al-Obeida following instructions from Prince Faisal Bin Khaled, Emir of Asir province, to find a swift resolution to the dispute. The two sisters, one of whom is in her early 50s while the other is 46, say that their brothers have repeatedly blocked offers for their hands in marriage and have denied them their part of their deceased father's inheritance, which is said to include buildings, farms, sums of money, gold and commercial assets worth millions. The women further claim that they have been threatened by male members of their family, and the three have being living in Khamis Mushayt's Social Protection House for over a year while waiting for the case to be resolved.
