The Alwaleed Bin Talal Charity Foundation donated $500,000 to Bangladesh to aid the victims of the Sidr cyclone that hit the country's southern coasts in 2007 claiming the lives of more than 3,000 people. The cyclone affected more than six million people, destroying houses, roads, bridges, crops, and fishing facilities. It also led to the deaths of large numbers of livestock. The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation worked with the Islamic Relief Organization and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to ensure the best possible use of Prince Alwaleed's donation.
