The host country for the GCC Monetary Council headquarters is expected to be named Tuesday during the 11th GCC Consultative Summit at Al-Diriyah Palace here. A Gulf Cooperation Council source said the permanent headquarters of the GCC Monetary Council will represent the core of a GCC central bank, in turn paving the way for a unified currency. GCC Undersecretary Abdul Rahman Al-Attiyah added that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar had all offered to host the monetary council headquarters following its approval at the GCC summit in Muscat in 2008.
