The Colorado Rockies eventually beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 in the 22nd inning Thursday, after the longest game in Major League Baseball for 15 years. Troy Tulowitzki hit an RBI double with two outs in the top of the 22nd, and San Diego could find no response, ending the 6-hour, 16-minute National League marathon at 1:21 A.M. It was the longest game since 1993, when Minnesota beat Cleveland 5-4 in 22 innings. It was also the longest game in Rockies history. Tulowitzki doubled to left-center off Glendon Rusch – the seventh Padres pitcher of the game. Colorado had eight. The game was scoreless until the 14th. Reds 9, Cubs 2: In Chicago, Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 596th career homer as Cincinatti ended its five-game losing streak by beating Chicago. Joey Votto doubled with the bases loaded, homered and drove in five runs for the Reds. Reds manager Dusty Baker beat the team he managed from 2003-06. Phillies 10, Astros 2: In Philadelphia, Brett Myers allowed just one run in seven innings, steering Philadelphia past Houston. Phillies catcher Chris Coste tied a career high with four hits, as the team tied a season high with 16 hits. In other National League games it was: Brewers 5, Cardinals 3; Braves 8, Marlins 0; Mets 3, Nationals 2, 14 innings. Indians beat Tigers 11-1 In Celeveland, Fausto Carmona allowed a run in 6 2-3 innings, Ryan Garko and Travis Hafner hit two-run homers and the Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 11-1 on Thursday. Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander remained winless in four starts, falling to 0-3. He allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings, with four walks and one strikeout. The loss snapped the Tigers' season-high three-game winning streak. Carmona (2-1), who walked eight in 3 1-3 innings in his last start against Oakland, gave up seven hits, struck out two and walked one. Jason Michaels drove in three runs while Garko, Hafner and Jamey Carroll had two RBIs apiece for the Indians, who had lost six of seven. Every Cleveland starter had at least one hit. Red Sox 7, Yankees 5: At New York, Manny Ramirez hit two more homers off an ineffective Mike Mussina, leading Josh Beckett and the Red Sox past the perturbed Yankees in a game that nearly became heated. With Ramirez enjoying his latest outburst against his favorite foe, Yankees reliever Kyle Farnsworth threw a 156 kilometer per hour fastball behind the slugger's neck on the first pitch of the seventh inning, drawing cheers from the sellout crowd of 55,088. Plate umpire Larry Vanover immediately warned both dugouts, and Ramirez eventually grounded out to second. Ramirez hit his 494th home run in the first, passing Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff for sole possession of 24th place on the career list, then added No. 495 an inning later. That gave Ramirez five homers this season – three in six days off Mussina (1-3). Mariners 8, Athletics 1: At Oakland, California, Carlos Silva pitched Seattle's second straight gem, leading the Mariners to their sixth straight win in the series against Oakland. In other results it was: Orioles 6, White Sox 5, 10 innings; Rangers 4, Blue Jays 1; Angels 5, Royals 3; Rays 7, Twins 3. __
