Centrepoint store opens at Raka Mall
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 05 - 2009

With the “Centrepoint Millionaire” campaign just underway, a new Centrepoint store has been launched recently at Raka Mall, Al-Khobar, in the Eastern Region.
Comprising exclusively of Centrepoint and Home Centre, Raka Mall will have 56,000 sq.ft dedicated to Centrepoint and its concepts (Babyshop, Splash, Shoe Mart, Lifestyle) and 84,000 sq.ft to Home Centre, which will be split over two floors.
The destination is proof of the popularity and demand that the two brands have acquired in the Kingdom over the past decade and a half.
Raka will offer customers the pleasure of shopping for their favorite brands in a well-laid out and plush ambience, backed by the same quality, range and value that these brands have come to be known for.
During the promotion period (April 15 to May 15), everyone will have a chance to win SR1 million in cash by simply visiting a Centrepoint store, answer a simple question and fill in a form. No purchase is required to participate.
Neelesh Bhatnagar, head of Saudi operations, Al Bandar Group, said this is first-event-of-its-kind ever to be held in the Kingdom.
An event of this nature will undoubtedly further enhance the relationship that exists between the consumer and the Centrepoint brand (formerly City Plaza) and increase its brand equity in the Kingdom, he added.
Coinciding with the Centrepoint Millionaire promotion, the mall is sure to attract a lot of footfall in its opening weeks and will only strengthen the already robust retail model.
Centrepoint, (formerly City Plaza) is one of the largest retail chains in Saudi Arabia, attracting over eight million customers every year
Conveniently located at over 35 locations throughout the Kingdom, the last 8 months have seen a transformation in name and appearance from the original City Plaza stores. City Plaza has been synonymous with retail in the Kingdom since it's inception in 1995 and Centrepoint will continue this trend.
City Plaza's values have been carried forward into the new Centrepoint stores, in giving customers what they want - a wide variety of merchandise offering exceptional value for money in an international shopping ambiance.
In essence nothing has changed, except the name. The same great service, the same great shopping experience and the same great value systems will still be the order of the day.
The name change has taken place throughout the Kingdom in order to ensure international brand consistency.
Centrepoint has existed in the rest of the GCC and the Levant for the last five years. Therefore Centrepoint now has 53 stores across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan.
The brand will shortly expand into the Egyptian market and plans exist for over 100 stores to be in open across all countries by 2011.
