Maulana Razlur Rehman, the Chairman of the Pakistani Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Affairs, in an address to a gathering of expatriate Pakistanis at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh on Monday, said that the “War on terror” was the wrong slogan, which would not bring peace. Maulana, speaking at length on the issues of the insurgency in the FATA and PATA (Swat) regions including the recent wave of militancy of the Taleban inside Pakistan, said that the slogan “War on terror” was a thing of the past introduced by the former President Bush. He added that since President Obama was elected on the promise of change, he must first change this slogan, as no war can bring peace. “Peace can only come through dialogue, negotiations and on the basis of give-and-take,” Moulana added.
