A man has refused to take the body of his daughter who was delivered dead a week ago in Kamil Hospital, northeast of Jeddah, demanding a full investigation into her death. He accused the hospital of wrong diagnosis and negligence of her mother before delivery. Yousef Braik Al-Odaini said he filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health to investigate the death of his new born baby. the grieving father blamed the hospital for excessive leniency to deal with the mother's case when she arrived to the hospital to deliver. The cause of death is believed to have been caused by the umbilical cord strangling the baby to death as it entangled her neck, cutting off oxygen supply. The cause of death threw a liability issue on the part of the hospital to monitor the fetal activity before making a decision of vaginal delivery, as the baby could have been saved had a C-section delivery been decided, he said. A source at Kamil Hospital said the man didn't file any complaint with the administration of the hospital, confirming that they would be ready to form a committee to investigate the death of the baby if the mad had filed a complaint with them. The case is filed amid a rising concern of the qualifications of the health care employees in the Kingdom. Thousands of workers in the health care field were found with bogus medical degrees. The Ministry of Health reportedly found last year over 4,000 fake medical degrees after an audit of 20,870 medical degrees on its file, with bogus certificates from Southeast Asia topping the list. - Okaz __
