The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties is planning the introduction of a new mechanism within the two coming months to expose phony physicians and health practitioners. A specialized company will be engaged to help with legalizing certificates by their issuers expeditiously, charging token fees. The move was prompted by a rise in the number of forged certificates to an anticipated 200 certificates in the current year as opposed to approximately 100 in the past year. Professor Hussein Al-Freihi, Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, said that an agreement will be signed soon with the Company which has its head office in Dubai city. Noting that the company possesses sophisticated expertise, Al-Freihi said that it would open a branch in Riyadh once it passes a test consisting of examining and telling between true certificates and forged ones. Al-Freihi explained that the Commission has established a special section for legalization of academic certificates after discovering a large number of forged and dubious ones. “The Commission had enlisted the services of a Pakistani representative using a traditional mechanism to identify forgers and feedback took a long time to reach us”, he said. __
