Mohammed Noor Rahimi, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), met with 39 representatives from different international civil aviation companies on Wednesday to discuss the launching of commercial projects at all international airports in the Kingdom. This meeting came as part of GACA's plan to launch commercial development projects at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. “We wish to explain our new strategy and future plans for the development of the Kingdom's airports, and provide an opportunity for these private companies to present their plans and suggestions. We can then decide whether or not these plans are in line with GACA's strategy,” said Rahimi. GACA plans to depend on private companies rather than the government sector, he said. “The German company, Fraport AG, presented its plan to develop commercial projects at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, and a Singaporean company presented plan to develop several commercial projects at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, as well as King Fahd International Airport in Dammam,” said Ayman Bakr Nassif, Supervisor of Central Management for Media and Public Relations at the GACA. Several themes were discussed during the meeting, such as, facilitating services for civil aviation companies; improving the market of air transport in the Kingdom; and changing the mechanism and concepts of work in civil aviation in order to cope with GACA's future visions,” added Nassif.
