The president of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), Bandar Bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, has said that the establishment of the Commission and its direct responsibility to the King serves to protect and strengthen human rights in the Kingdom in accordance with international standards of human rights. Al-Aiban, speaking during a meeting with the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Aal Al-Sheikh on Monday, said the organization served to promote human rights awareness in all areas and contributed in their application according to Shariah law. The meeting, which was also attended by the HRC vice-president Zaid Bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Hussein, expounded the tasks of the HRC and its working principles in its internal and external relations and the cases entrusted to it.
