The Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry voted Talal Mirza as its new chairman Tuesday after recently elected chairman Adel Ka'aki suddenly stepped down Sunday for “absolute private and business reasons.” In a tight emergency election during the first meeting of the board members Tuesday, Mirza won the chairmanship with only one vote ahead of Muhammad Abdulsammad Al-Qurashi. Mirza thanked the MCCI members for placing their confidence in him to boost the performance of the chamber and support businesswomen, who will be a major partner in the chamber, he said. Al-Qurashi wished Mirza the best in his new mission and offered to support him during his term. Mazen Tunsi and Jamal Farsi were elected as deputy chairmen of the MCCI and Hisham Al-Sayed as the MCCI representative to the Council of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
