Sanabil District here has lodged a complaint with the authorities after the municipality tore down part of his house for violating construction regulations. Building owner Abdullah Al-Zahrani said that the façade of his home was removed without any prior notice. “I am not encroaching on anybody's land,” Al-Zahrani said. The municipality head in south Jeddah, Awad Al-Maliki, said Al-Zahrani had a license to build two floors but he constructed three instead. “We gave him formal notification more than once, but he did not respond,” Al-Maliki said. “After coordinating with the Building Control Department it was decided to remove part of the violating construction to force the owner to come to us and correct the situation,” he added.
