AJWA is a soft dry variety of date fruit from Saudi Arabia. It is cultivated in Madina. A delightfully soft and fruity date with fine texture. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever has seven Ajwa dates every morning will not be harmed on that day by poison or magic.” (Al-Bukhari, no. 5445/5768/5769/5779) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Ajwa dates are from paradise.” (Al-Tirmidhi, no. 2068, Hasan Saheeh) In Sahih Muslim, no. 2047, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said regarding eating seven Ajwa dates, “He will not be harmed by anything until he reaches the evening.” (Sahih Muslim, 2047) The cost of this variety starts around SR70 per kg. Other dates are sometimes sold as Ajwa to ignorant customers. To know if its really Ajwa, look closely at the dates and see if there are very fine white lines on it. __
