The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) will provide Saudis who want to start a small business with a subsidy of up to SR3,000 a month for a period of two years, according to an agreement signed between JCCI and the Human Resources Development Fund here on Saturday. “We are aiming to support and encourage citizens to establish small and medium enterprises with a small subsidy which will allow them to meet their material needs and the necessary requirements of their families during the first two years of establishing their business project,” said Ahmed Yousuf Kharraz, the executive director of business at JCCI. According to Kharraz, there are many restrictions that will apply. The established project, for example, should be under the patronage of the JCCI, should have an authorized license from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the business owner should work on his project full-time, and have no other job or pension. “We are planning to launch several training courses in areas, such as management, investment statistics, facilitating procedures, and identifying financial resources,” said Kharraz.
