Jan Derksen battled windy conditions and persistent rain to shoot a three-under 69 and take a two-shot lead after the second round of the Ballatine's Championship on Friday. Dutchman Derksen mixed six birdies with a double-bogey seven at the fourth and bogey on the second at the Pinx Golf Club to post a nine-under total of 135, two clear of Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee (71) and South Korea's Kang Wook-soon (69). New Zealand's Mark Brown, who was tied for the lead at the start of play and for much of his round, had a terrible back nine bogeying four of the last five holes to post a 73. Brown is tied for fourth with Spain's Pablo Martin (69) and Italy's Alessandro Tadini (71) a further stroke back on 138. South Africa's Ernie Els, tied for ninth when play began, made five bogeys and three birdies to shoot a two-over 74 and slip down the leaderboard to a tie for 28th on two-under 142. Champion Graeme McDowell of Britain missed the cut at one-over 145 after he shot a 73 to aggregate five-over 149. Wi off to flying start At New Orleans, Louisiana, South Korea's Charlie Wi made the most of an early start time firing a six-under 66 to top a crowded leaderboard after the opening round of the PGA Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Wi has a one-shot lead and is three strokes ahead of American Kenny Perry, who was runner-up at the Masters, shot a 69. Jay Williamson, Nathan Green, Parker McLachlin, Charles Warren, John Merrick and Eric Axley opened with 67s. Eleven players were at 68. Ochoa takes early lead In Mexico, world number one Lorena Ochoa sits atop the leaderboard, shooting an eight under 65 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the LPGA's Corona Championship on Thursday. The defending champion leads South Korea's Na Yeon Choi and Michelle Wie by one stroke in the $1.3 million tournament.
