Neither the BJP nor Congress has any chance to form a governement on its own. However, Muslim issues have become a mudslinging point between Dr. Manmohan Singh and BJP's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani. Responding to Advani's allegation that Dr. Manmohan Singh is the weakest PM of India, Dr. Singh befittingly replied and gave reference to the plane hijack of Kandahar when Advani was the Deputy PM and Home Minister. In election rallies, Advani and his party persons raise the issue of why Afzal Guru, who was convicted for attacking the Indian Parliament, is not hanged so far, ignoring the fact that Guru is number 28 on the list, i.e. 27 before him need to be hanged. Congress is also playing dirty. It is playing a divisive tactics in UP and Bihar to divide Muslim votes from Muslim dominated areas where Congress has put its Muslim candidate for namesake albeit to defeat the winnable Muslim from SP or BSP. Azharuddin is a glaring example. Azhar would have been better had he got a ticket from strongest bastion of Congress of AP from any constituency barring Hyderabad. The same tactics Congress plays in Bihar where the political pundits opine that Congress may not win even a single seat. So in Bihar, Congress has fielded many Muslim candidates from Muslim dominated areas against strong candidates of RJD, LJP (Ram Bilas Paswan) and JDU (Secular or United).
