Police in Jeddah are continuing investigations into a gang accused of kidnapping, assaulting, and electrocuting a 22-year-old man over a period of several hours on Friday morning. According to police the man was subjected to the electrocution of “sensitive parts of his body” and “attempts to smash his teeth” from around 1 A.M. Friday until he was released at seven 7 A.M. The brother of the victim said the incident originated in an argument between the victim and a number of people over a car two weeks previously. “My brother stopped to help some people he knew vaguely with their car, but one of them tried to drive off in his car,” he said. On Friday, he says, the gang came across his brother again and kidnapped and tortured him. “They hit him with a stick and electric cables, and attacked him with a knife. They caused serious injuries to his eyes, head and tongue. They also photographed him while he was stripped of his clothes and threatened to publish the photos if he went to the police,” he said. The brother had informed the police of the disappearance of his brother, on Friday and shortly afterwards the gang left their victim far from home and without a car. He reported the incident to police and was taken to hospital by the Red Crescent. Police say they have detained six persons suspected of involvement in the incident.
