Galeib rules Toyota Saudi Star Autocross
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 22 - 04 - 2009

Bandar Galeib ruled the two-day Toyota Sadui Star Autocross 2009, 1st round at Jeddah raceway.
The event, organized by Abdullah Bakhshab Est. for motor sport development, drew a large number of racing enthusiasts.
And when the dust settled, it was Bandar Galeib who led the podium winners after clocking the best time of 01:09:179 in the Camry challenge stage on the second day.
Fadi Hamadh, widely expected to win, piloted his car around the track in a second best time of 01:.09:679
In third place was Ead Al-Najar who finished in 01:10:332
“I was impressed with their driving,” said race organizer Bakhashab, who is always on the lookout for the “new guys” with potential to excel in motor sport. Bakhashab said he's looking forward to motor sport getting the nod from the Saudi government.
In all, 35 drivers took part in the first round here. The race was very interesting, especially among those who used the modified cars. The race began after grouping the participants according to their vehicles into six classes based on the international autocross laws and the capacity of the engine, its power and its production year. After the technical test on the first day every participant had to make a free tour through the track. Then the drivers had two trials to collect the best time.
In the first group (DS) Majed Al-Ghamdi won with a time 1.06.837 to move to the second stage. In the second group (AS) Ali Asi stayed top (01:03:655). The winners in other groups were: Third group (CS) – Khaled Shawi (01:11:448); fourth group (FS) – Bandar Galeib (01:01:772); fifth group (SS) – Fadi Hamadah (00:57:800); sixth group (ES) – Saud Al-Gerisi (01:11:680); seventh group (PS) –Ead Al-Najar (01:08:015).
The qualified drivers had two trials on the second day.
It was a thrilling and interesting round where Bandar Galeib clinched the championship, Fadi Hamadh finished second and Ead Al-Najar third.
Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd. (Toyota) was the main sponsor of the event. The other sponsor was Mobil 1. __
