The Jeddah Heart Institute is scheduled to organize the 8th Jeddah Cardiovascular Interventions and Imaging Symposium at the Jeddah Hilton hotel on Saturday and Sunday. The institute, part of Jeddah's Dr. Erfan and Bagedo General Hospital aims to acquaint experts and physicians with the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine, from stem cell therapy to the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular risk factors, Dr. Hoda Al-Khatib, consultant cardiologist and head of the institute, said in a press release. She added that this year's meeting will include topics on critical care, new guidelines on acute coronary syndrome and whether the future lie with bioabsorbable stents. There will also be emphasis on the importance and uses of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR), a novel and developing modality in adult and pediatric cardiology. Other topics include congenital heart diseases, along with new trends in their interventional and surgical management, as well as surgical updates in heart failure. __
