Juanma Mata and Pablo Hernandez scored late goals as Valencia rallied for a 3-1 win over 10-man Sevilla on Sunday, a victory that gave the Spanish club the lead in the race to clinch the league's final Champions League place. Julien Escude's sharply headed corner squeezed in off the underside of the bar to give Sevilla a ninth-minute lead at the Mestalla stadium, before the visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 43rd when Adriano was sent off for tripping David Villa from behind. Escude was at fault for a 45th-minute penalty after the French defender collided with Mata inside the area, with Villa stepping up to beat goalkeeper Andres Palop for his 23rd league goal of the season and eighth from the spot. Valencia took the lead in the 83rd minute with another penalty, converted by Mata after Fernando Navarro handled Vicente Rodriguez's cross into the area. Second-half substitute Hernandez added the third, deep into injury time, to seal a fourth straight win for his side. Valencia is fourth with 52 points - three more than Atletico Madrid and Villarreal. Sevilla's second straight loss left it within reach in third with 57 points. Earlier, Giuseppe Rossi missed a second-half penalty that cost Villarreal two points in the race to clinch the final Champions League place following a 0-0 draw with Valladolid. Espanyol moved out of last place with a 1-0 win over Racing Santander, and Alvaro Negredo scored two goals to lead Almeria over Osasuna 2-1. Also, Achille Emana scored both goals as Real Betis improved its chances of staying up with a 2-0 win over Sporting Gijon. Barcelona and Real Madrid wins leave the title race unchanged with seven games to play. Inzaghi notches hat trick Filippo Inzaghi scored a hat trick Sunday as AC Milan beat Torino 5-1, lifting the Rossoneri into a tie with Juventus for second place in Serie A. Inzaghi scored in the 13th, 37th and 60th minutes at the San Siro - with his first two goals set up by passes from David Beckham. Kaka and Massimo Ambrosini also scored for Milan. Milan and Juventus both now have 64 points, 10 behind leader Inter Milan. Meanwhile AS Roma captain Francesco Totti found the net twice to move into the top 10 on Serie A's all-time scoring list. Totti's goals in a 3-2 win over 10-man Lecce gave him 175 for his career - played entirely with Roma. Silvio Piola, who won the World Cup with Italy in 1938, tops the list with 274 goals, while Inzaghi improved his tally to 149. Totti's goals helped put Roma back in the hunt for fourth place and Serie A's final Champions League spot. Fiorentina, meanwhile, wasted an opportunity to close in on fourth place with a 3-1 loss at Udinese. Genoa is fourth with 57 points. Fiorentina is next with 55 points and Roma has 52. Also, it was: Atalanta 0, Reggina 1; Cagliari 2, Napoli 0; Catania 2, Sampdoria 0; Palermo 4, Bologna 1; and Siena 0, Chievo Verona 2.
