Saudi Paper Manufacturing has started up a new tissue machine, supplied by Metso Paper, at its mill in Dammam. The new paper machine will manufacture facial, toilet and towel grades, based on both virgin pulp and recycled fiber. Metso Paper in Karlstad, Sweden, supplied the 5.5 meters wide machine, which has a design speed of 2,200 meters per minute and a capacity of 55 thousand tons per year. With the new machine, the plant in Dammam has 4 tissue machines with a total capacity of 125 thousand tons.
