THE Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “No Prophet from amongst the Prophets will have as many followers as me. Indeed, there will be from amongst the Prophets he who had no one believing in him, except one man.” (Sahih Muslim, 1/130) Sheikh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen Al-Albani (d.1420H) commented on this Hadith, saying, “In this Hadith is a clear proof that abundance of followers, or lack of them, is not the deciding factor that indicates if the caller is upon truth or falsehood. So, even though the da'wah of (all) prophets was one and their religion was one, their numbers of followers varied. Some had many followers and others had only a few, to the extent that some had no one to believe in them except one man. In fact, there was a prophet who had no follower! This is a profound lesson for da'ees and those who are being invited to in this age of ours. A da'ee (one who invites to Islam) must remember this reality. He should continue inviting people to Allah and must not be bothered if only few people answer him because his duty is only to convey the message clearly. Those who are invited (to Islam) must also not despair if the followers are few. That should not be a reason for doubting truth and for not believing in it. Allah said in the Qur'an: “And most of mankind will not believe, even if you desire it eagerly.” (Qur'an, 12:103) – Silsilat-ul-Ahadith As-Sahihah (no. 397) of Al
