IN a first of its kind development, King Abdul Aziz University (KAAU) is all set to woo expatriates and working Saudis, later this year from October. Jeddah Community College (JCC), a part of KAAU, will be offering associate degrees and diplomas in various specialties to Saudi and Non-Saudi students. A meeting of principals from various schools was held last week at the King Fahd Center for Research in KAAU. Prof. Ibrahim Kutbi, Dean of JCC, and Dr. Ahmad Abdul Wahab, Vice Dean of JCC, said more students who previously did not have an opportunity to study in KAAU due to financial or work constraints would now have the option of getting quality education in Jeddah. Diplomas and associate degrees on offer are in Computer Networks, Insurance, Marketing, Sales, Accounting, and Pharmacy. These programs will be in English, excluding the Sales program which will be in Arabic. “The mission of JCC is to provide the community with highly trained and competent graduates to meet the evolving needs of the job market, as well as utilizing local and international partnerships in order to accomplish this mission,” a statement released from the University said. JCC has established international tie-ups with Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges System (LCTCS) and in the process of signing a MOU with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training in UK (TVET). JCC is in the process of becoming a Microsoft IT Academy. __
