Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) is ranked as the wealthiest Arab by Forbes Arabia, in effect, making him the wealthiest Muslim. KHC said in a statement on Wednesday that the magazine described Alwaleed as a savvy, active and successful investor. This acknowledgment followed Arabian Business' recent number one ranking in the magazine's 2008 list of 100 most powerful Arabs for the fourth consecutive year. Alwaleed has been involved in the creation of a diversified portfolio of strategic stakes in well-known companies around the world, in multiple sectors covering banking, media and entertainment, hotels and resorts, real estate, construction, telecommunications, technology, agriculture, upscale fashion, retailing, supermarkets, tourism, aviation and travel. KHC's local significant investments include interests in Samba Financial Group, Savola, Tasnee, SRMG, NAS and Kingdom Center, and Alwaleed's privately- owned Rotana Audiovisual. KHC's international investments include Citigroup, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, the George V Hotel in Paris, Raffles and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Movenpick Hotels and Resorts, News Corp., Time Warner, Motorola, Apple Inc., Canary Wharf, Disneyland-Paris, Saks Inc., Procter and Gamble and Kodak Corporation.
