A policeman leapt to the rescue to relieve an aggrieved court complainant of the machine gun with which he was about to open fire on a courtroom here on Sunday. The man, dismayed at the judge's decision in his case against two other men, went straight to his car upon hearing the verdict only to return brandishing a machine gun. The two defendants managed to escape to the judge's chambers as Captain Hashim Al-Shahabi jumped in to disarm the attacker. Captain Al-Shahabi later received praise from police superiors for his “bravery and heroism” while Judge Nawaf Al-Sa'adoun asked that Al-Shahabi be given a reward for his “valiant actions.”
