The Saudi Council for Health Specialists (SCHS) has uncovered an Asian nurse who had worked under forged qualifications for over a decade. The woman was reportedly employed as head nurse at a reputable Riyadh hospital for 12 years. Despite being reported to authorities in 2006 for having forged qualifications after approaching the SCHS to have her credentials certified, no action was taken against the nurse. At the end of 2008, the nurse resubmitted her documents but a vigilant specialist detected the flaw. The nurse fled when she was reported to the police, leaving behind her Iqama (residency permit). The SCHS has now issued instructions obliging all medical institutions both private and public to register foreign medical employees immediately upon their arrival.
