Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and chairman of the supreme commission of the Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz International Award for the Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies chaired the commission's meeting here on Wednesday during which he announced the winners of this year's award. Addressing the meeting, Prince Naif expressed the commission's pleasure in working in the service of the Prophet's Sunnah and he prayed to Almighty Allah that the award would enrich Islamic research and provide replies to developments of the modern age and make clear the viewpoint of the Sunnah towards them. Prince Naif thanked the members of the commission for their exerted efforts and wished them success. Prince Naif announced that the winner in the branch of contemporary Islamic studies was Dr. Abdulqader Abdulkarim Gondal of Pakistan for ‘Relief work in Islam' (a contemporary authenticated study). Dr. Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Bisher of Saudi Arabia also won for his work “Freedom of Opinion in Islam'. Prince Naif also announced that Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Shaker of Egypt was the winner of the Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz award for service of Prophet's Sunnah in the field of writing . The secretary general of the Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz International Award, Dr. Saed Al-Orabi Al-Harthi, reviewed the activities of the secretariat general in 1429-1430H. In a press statement following the meeting, Prince Naif said that the award's supreme committee has worked hard to select the best research works submitted for the award, noting that 384 research studies were submitted for this year's award. Prince Naif said that the award has achieved many of its goals, noting that the award's council is comprised of prominent scholars who have expressed their satisfaction with the award's procedures and objectives. The meeting of the commission was attended by Prince Mohammed Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Minister of Interior for security affairs, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif, Prince Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Naif, Prince Fahd Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz and a number of officials.
