THE Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) celebrated Pakistan National Day last week marking the 69th anniversary of the Pakistan Resolution passed in 1940 which led to the creation of Pakistan. Speakers at the function urged the newly reinstated Pakistani Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to work for the rights of the stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh. Syed Anwer Hussain, staff officer to the minister at the Pakistani Consulate, called for his countrymen to adhere to the Quaid-e-Azam's message of unity, faith and discipline. Ehsanul Haque, convener, urged charitable organizations to extend their services to stranded Pakistanis. Ateequr Rahman of Mohibbane Pakistan said that he would present the PRC demand for the welfare of stranded Pakistanis to Overseas Minister Farouq Sattar, who Rahman said, would visit Jeddah in April. Speakers at the symposium included: Mohammad Jamil Rathore, general secretary of Pakistan Journalists Forum; Mohammad Ashfaq Badayouni, community leader; Tariq Mahmood; Engr. Azeez Ahmed; Engr. Rahsheed Chishti of Pak Sraki Forum; Eng. Neaz Ahmed of Pakistan Writers Forum; and Nawaz Janjua of Pakistan Welfare Society, among others. Renowned poets Tahir Jameel, Syed Mohsin Alavi, Abdul Qayyum Waseq, Ali Mukhtar, Mohammad Nawaz Janjua, Zamurrad Khan Saifi, and Gule Anwar presented poetic tributes to mark the national day. __
