The Summary Court here has found guilt a 25-year-old Syrian guilty of murdering his nephew and cutting off his head in a supermarket in Sari Street more than a year ago. Judge Ali Al-Zahrani ruled that the man was of sound mind at the time of the crime. The Syrian man killed his one-year-old nephew in the toys and candy section of a supermarket in full view of dozens of shoppers. Witnesses said the boy was playing with his uncle only moments before he was murdered. The Syrian man reportedly mentioned at the time marital problems between his sister and her husband, the boy's parents, saying that he did not want the child to end up in the custody of the father. The victim's parents pardoned the man who subsequently paid the blood money. The General Court will decide the sentence through a judicial committee of three judges.
